Delaware $15 Minimum Wage Proposal Awaits Governor’s Signature

Delaware would require a $15 minimum wage by 2025 under legislation awaiting action by Gov. John Carney.

The bill, SB 15, calls for raising the state’s minimum hourly wage to $10.50 on Jan. 1, 2022, and then increasing it annually until it reaches $15 on Jan. 1, 2025. The state’s current minimum wage is $9.25 per hour.

State lawmakers gave the bill final passage Thursday with a 26-15 vote in the House, after it previously passed the Senate.

Carney, a Democrat, has voiced support for increasing the minimum wage but also concerns about mitigating the effect on businesses. ...
