Deere Is Still Suffering Hangover From Last Year’s Labor Strike

Deere & Co. is nine months removed from its longest work stoppage in 35 years, but the world’s largest agricultural machinery maker is still feeling residual effects of that strike.

The company has been “chasing” production all year as a result of lost production from last year’s monthlong strike that threw several of Deere’s businesses into turmoil, executives said Friday on a call with analysts. What is driving the logjam is strong tractor demand from farmers flush with cash looking to replace aging equipment as agricultural demand surges.
