Dartmouth Men’s Basketball Team Gets Approval for Union Vote (2)

Student athletes on the Dartmouth College men’s basketball team will vote on whether to unionize after a labor board official ruled they should be considered employees of the institution.

Dartmouth provides compensation to and exerts control over the athletes, making them employees under federal labor law, National Labor Relations Board Regional Director Laura Sacks said in a decision Monday.

The athletes petitioned to be represented by the Service Employees International Union in September.
