A federal appeals court denied a former Dallas middle school teacher’s petition to resurrect his racial discrimination lawsuit, holding that a recent US Supreme Court decision on majority group bias claims didn’t save his case.
The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s opinion issued Monday rejected Joe Bravo’s argument that the high court’s 2025 decision making it easier for workers from majority groups to prove discrimination also eliminated his need to provide comparator evidence.
