Dallas Paid Sick Leave Law Invalid, Preempted by Texas Wage Act

A city of Dallas 2019 ordinance requiring employers of all sizes to pay employees for taking sick leave met the same fate as similar measures passed by Austin and San Antonio as a federal judge in Texas likewise declared the law illegal.

That result is dictated by the earlier rulings by Texas appeals courts in the cases brought against the Austin and San Antonio ordinances, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas said Wednesday.
