A transit police officer fired after being found working as a boxing coach while on medical leave can move forward with his race discrimination claim against the the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, but failed to make a sufficient case for color or national origin discrimination, a federal court in D.C. said.
Ernesto Rodriguez is Black and Hispanic, and immigrated from Panama. He went on leave due to injury in 2018 and 2019 and received workers’ compensation.
