A Maryland-based custom home remodeling company misclassified hundreds of its “lead developers” as independent contractors and didn’t pay them for all their hours worked, a new lawsuit alleges.
Homefix Custom Remodeling Corp. also allegedly instructs its non-white lead developers to canvass relatively poorer neighborhoods and or to sit in kiosks in low-traffic areas at trade shows, Torray Baylor says in his complaint filed April 24 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
