CUNY Gets Union’s CARES Act Suit Over Faculty Layoffs Thrown Out

A New York federal judge agreed Monday to dismiss a CARES Act lawsuit brought by an employees’ union against the City University of New York over its decision to lay off thousands of adjunct faculty and staff members due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Professional Staff Congress/CUNY doesn’t have a claim under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, Judge Jed S. Rakoff of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said.
