Crypto Mine Unionizing Campaign Reaches Federal Labor Board

A union seeking to represent workers at a cryptocurrency mine in central Pennsylvania filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board, which could force a union election at the facility.

An International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers affiliate asked for a July 6 vote to permit 19 mining and maintenance technicians at Talen Nautilus Cryptomine to decide on union representation, according to the petition filed Thursday.

The bid to unionize comes days after the US Security and Exchange Commission sued two of the largest crypto exchanges, casting new doubt on the long-term prospects of the crypto currency industry.
