Michigan businesses could be granted immunity from Covid-19 related lawsuits brought by workers and customers under a series of bills headed to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s desk.
In a flurry of votes held late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning, the Michigan Senate and House approved five bills granting employers, individuals, and health care providers immunity from complaints alleging a defendant negligently infected a customer or worker with Covid-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus. The measures also regulate how Covid-19 is handled by employers.
