Court Vacates $2 Million Jury Award to Cop Who Implicated Police in Murder, Trafficking

A $4.5 million damages award to a sheriff’s deputy for whistle-blower retaliation was reduced by $2 million because he was not entitled to front or back pay damages due to an injury that rendered him unable to perform his job duties both before termination and in the future, a California appeals court held Aug. 5 (Hager v. County of Los Angeles, 2014 BL 216805).
