Court Finds No Duty to Specify Law Violation In New York Whistle-Blower’s Civil Complaint

A discharged executive who claims she was fired in violation of a New York whistle-blower law for complaining about patient safety hazards did not have to plead a specific violation of a “law, rule or regulation” in commencing a lawsuit against her former employer, the New York Court of Appeals held May 13 (Webb-Weber v. Cmty. Action for Human Servs., Inc., 2014 BL 132001, N.Y., 79, 5/13/14).
