Corteva, Pioneer Hi-Bred Sued by Migrants Over Toxic Spray (2)

Corteva Inc. and subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. were sued in federal court by more than two dozen migrant workers who say the companies sprayed them with toxic pesticides as they worked in Illinois cornfields and then forced them to return to keep working without adequate decontamination measures or medical help.

The 31-count complaint, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois at Springfield, accuses the defendants of violating the Agricultural Workers Protection Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act. The workers also bring claims of assault, battery, negligence, and breach of contract.
