Corning Resolves Allegations of Sex Discrimination in New York

Corning Inc. will pay $120,000 to settle a sex discrimination lawsuit filed by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in New York, the agency said Friday.

The company allegedly provided male employees with greater training opportunities as well as adjusted eligibility rules to place them in line lead positions instead of similarly or more qualified women, which violates Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the EEOC said.

The three-year consent decree also requires the company to implement injunctive relief such as providing enhanced hiring-focused anti-discrimination training, revising its equal employment opportunity policies, and modifying its line lead ...
