Cook County Faces Trial in Outed Transgender Jail Worker’s Suit

A transgender former correctional medical technician at Chicago’s Cook County Jail can take his gender identity harassment and discrimination claims against the county to trial, an Illinois federal judge ruled Tuesday.

A jury must also decide whether Logan Grimes can prove the disclosure of his transgender status by Melvin Judkins, who oversaw the inmate medication team Grimes was on, violated the U.S. Constitution and Illinois tort law, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said.
