Contractor Pay Bias Settlements Hit 5-Year High at Labor Agency

About 41 percent of the $26.4 million the U.S. Labor Department collected in monetary discrimination settlements in fiscal year 2021 came from federal contractors accused of systemic pay bias, a five-year high for the agency, an official said Tuesday.

However, the monetary total is a substantial drop from the $35.6 million DOL’s federal contractor watchdog obtained in the prior fiscal year.

The total settlements for fiscal 2021, which ended Sept. 30, went to about 22,000 class members and were from 43 discrimination cases, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Deputy Director Michele Hodge said at an Institute for Workplace Equality ...
