Contractor Minimum Wage Hike Approved by House Defense Panel

Federal contractor employees are a step closer to a $15 minimum wage guarantee as part of the defense spending bill making its way through the House.

The wage provision was included in the fiscal 2023 funding bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee Defense Subcommittee Wednesday.

The bill would codify an April 2021 executive order issued by President Joe Biden that called for the Labor Department to establish a $15 minimum wage on new or updated contracts.
