Ameren Illinois Co. must reinstate an employee it fired after he allegedly threatened his supervisor and a gun was found in his car.
The employee’s union challenged his termination under the grievance procedure laid out in its collective bargaining agreement, and an arbitrator ordered him reinstated. He found that the employee complied with a state concealed carry law that lets workers store a gun in a personal vehicle at the workplace unless the company informs employees that it’s prohibited, which Ameren hadn’t done.
