Computer Sciences Corp. Gets Legal Fees Slashed in Overtime Case

Computer Sciences Corp. only has to pay about $7.7 million in fees to plaintiffs’ counsel in an overtime class action that culminated in a jury verdict and $18 million in damages for 900-plus employees nationwide, a Connecticut federal court ruled.

Plaintiffs’ counsel deserve fees on the “higher end” of the spectrum given their experience and the outcome of the case, but they didn’t justify their high requested hourly rates or the 20,000 claimed billable hours, Judge Janet Bond Arterton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut said Monday. She cut their fees’ request by more than 40%....
