Company to Pay Disabled Worker, Provide ADA Training in EEOC Settlement

LANSING, Mich.—J.A. Thomas & Associates, a health care consulting firm based in Atlanta, agreed to pay a former employee $350,000 in back pay and compensatory damages as part of a settlement announced Jan. 4 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC v. J.A. Thomas & Assocs. Inc.).

The company also agreed to provide training to all employees on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

EEOC alleged the company violated the ADA when it did not rehire Sally Lipinski, a health information management specialist and bilateral amputee, after it made her position remote.
