Community College Beats Professor’s Race Bias, Retaliation Case

An Arizona community college defeated allegations that it discriminated and retaliated against a Black professor and former social and behavioral sciences division chair who pushed for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

The professor didn’t provide enough evidence to get his race- or color-based disparate treatment claim against Pinal County Community College District, which operates Central Arizona College, in front of a jury, the US District Court for the District of Arizona said, granting the school summary judgment. He also lacks evidence that the school undermined his authority as division chair because he complained of bias, the Wednesday order said. ...
