Communications Union Sets AI Plan as Tech Organizing Ramps Up

A major union seeking to organize workers at Apple Inc., Google, and other tech companies has unveiled a broad set of principles aimed at protecting employees from the perils of artificial intelligence.

The Communications Workers of America said Wednesday it would use collective bargaining to guard against “invasive” surveillance; automated decision-making on hiring, firing, and discipline; and AI-based decisions to raise quotas, among other issues.
