Former EEOC Chair Janet Dhillon‘s nomination to oversee the federal government’s private-sector pension insurer cleared a US Senate committee vote Thursday, teeing up consideration before the full chamber.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee voted 12-11 along party lines to advance Dhillon’s nomination to serve as director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., an independent, self-funded agency tasked with protecting traditional, defined-benefit pensions sponsored by companies.
