Comcast Techs’ $7.5 Million Wage Settlement Gets Preliminary OK

Comcast Corp. contractor O.C. Communications Inc. will pay $7.5 million to settle cable technicians’ wage and hour claims under an agreement granted preliminary approval by the Northern District of California.

The settlement resolves multiple claims against Comcast and O.C., including failing to pay overtime, failing to compensate for all hours worked, failing to allow rest periods and meal periods, and failing to pay minimum wage.

The complaint alleged that O.C. and Comcast are the plaintiffs’ joint employers and that Comcast exercises day-to-day control over their activities.
