Colorado Restaurant Must Pay Workers $242,000 in Back Wages

The Department of Labor has recovered $242,579 in back wages for 72 workers at a Westminster, Colo., restaurant, the agency announced Monday.

Lychen Inc., operating as East Moon Asian Bistro, allegedly failed to pay the legally required minimum wage, kept tips from its employees, and denied workers overtime in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The DOL’s Wage and Hour Division determined the restaurant kept an invalid tip pool.

The restaurant also allegedly didn’t keep accurate records of employees’ hours worked as required by law, said DOL.
