College Settles Light-Sensitive Worker’s Disability Bias Claim

Utah’s Mountainland Technical College settled claims by its former apprenticeship programs director that she was fired because she sought disability accommodations for her eye condition.

The details of Monday’s settlement agreement between Mountainland and plaintiff Lori Stewart, reached during a settlement conference and noted on the docket, are not publicly available. Stewart was ordered to file dismissal paperwork within 45 days.

Judge Jill N. Parrish of the US District Court for the District of Utah ruled in February that Stewart raised triable issues on her retaliatory discharge and failure-to-accommodate claims.
