Former College Controller Didn’t Show Retaliatory Firing (1)

A former controller of Paul Quinn College failed to show she was fired in retaliation for internally reporting allegedly fraudulent grant procurement practices by the school’s financial officer, the Fifth Circuit said Dec. 9.

Paul Quinn College, a private, historically black college in Dallas, showed that it terminated Rebecca Musser because it reorganized the business office and eliminated her position, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit said.

Musser failed to establish that this reason was a pretext for retaliation, the court said in affirming dismissal of her False Claims Act suit.
