A group of college athletes is urging a Pennsylvania district judge to declare them employees under federal wage and hour law after an appeals court laid out tests to determine their status.
The group of students, lead by former Villanova football player Ralph Johnson, argued in a third amended complaint before US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Judge John Padova Monday that they meet the criteria to obtain status as workers under the Fair Labor Standards Act, meaning they are legally entitled to minimum wage and protections outlined in the law.
