Coal Miner Sues RFK Jr. for Work Safety Research Agency Cuts (1)

The head of Department of Health and Human Services violated the Mine Act when he fired employees who conduct health surveillance of coal miners, according to a new complaint filed in a federal district court.

Harry Wiley, a West Virginia coal miner, asked the US District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia to compel HHS to restore all personnel in the Respiratory Health Division of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health who carry out medical surveillance and job transfers—citing violations of those provisions under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977.
