A commercial cleaning company must rehire two workers who were fired for meeting with union organizers, the National Labor Relations Board ruled.
HSA Cleaning Inc., the cleaning contractor for the American Dream mall in East Rutherford, N.J., unlawfully fired Jose Teran and Luis Varela for talking to representatives from the Service Employees International Union in June 2022, the NLRB held Friday.
HSA must rehire Teran and Varela and provide them back pay, the three-member panel ordered. The ruling upholds a September 2023 decision from Administrative Law Judge Jeffrey Gardner and an injunction order from a New Jersey federal judge. ...
