Cipriani, Server Settle Sex Harassment Fight Involving Weinstein

Cipriana Downtown Socialista agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by a waitress who said the restaurant in lower Manhattan subjected her to persistent sexual harassment, including unwelcome advances from the eatery’s owner and his friend Harvey Weinstein.

Maria Sol Larrea sued Cipriani USA Inc. and Downtown Restaurant Co. in November 2020, saying she experienced unwanted touching at the hands of the owner, Giuseppe Cipriani, when she worked at the restaurant between September 2017 and July 2019. She also alleged Weinstein was close friends with Cipriani and that the disgraced movie producer used the restaurant as a “hunting ground.”
