Christian Texas Judge’s Suit Over Same-Sex Wedding Warning Nixed

A Jack County, Texas, judge lacks standing to sue the state’s judicial conduct commission over a warning it issued to a Texas justice of the peace for her religious-based refusal to preside over same-sex weddings, a federal court ruled.

Judge Brian Keith Umphress said he similarly declines to marry same-sex couples because he is a Christian who believes that marriage is only between one man and one woman and that homosexual conduct is immoral and contrary to his faith.
