Chicago Teacher Lacks Proof of Hispanic Discrimination by Union

The Chicago Teachers Union won’t face trial on a Hispanic teacher’s claims that it discriminated against her under federal job bias law by not pursuing arbitration on her grievances, a federal judge ruled.

Irma Rosas said the CTU’s records were organized in a biased fashion, because they couldn’t be quickly searched for instances where union members complained about the instruction provided to Spanish-speaking students and made it difficult to pinpoint non-Hispanic teachers whose grievances were treated more favorably.
