A federal contractor that provides support for international economic development projects will pay $482,000 to settle Labor Department claims that it discriminated against black applicants seeking entry-level associate positions, the agency announced.
The settlement is notable in that it involves hiring bias claims for professional positions. The majority of settlements announced by the DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs stem from hiring discrimination claims on behalf of applicants for blue-collar jobs, usually in manufacturing or clerical fields.
