Charter Communications Worker’s Pregnancy Bias Jury Win Upheld

A state jury’s finding that Charter Communications LLC fired a newly hired digital marketing manager because she disclosed her pregnancy was supported by the sequence of events, the Appellate Court of Connecticut ruled, affirming her $315,000 award.

Lana Rossova said she and Jennifer Smith, her boss in Charter’s Stamford office, had a great relationship between Rossova’s March 4, 2013, start date and March 29, 2013, when she told Smith she was pregnant, the court said. According to Rossova, Smith initially was happy for her and shared that she also was pregnant, the court said.
