A Missouri builder of cell phone towers has been cited for two alleged willful and four alleged serious safety violations following a March incident in which two workers were killed when a cell tower collapsed, OSHA announced Sept. 25.
According to a statement from the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the tower technicians were using a load-lifting gin pole attached to the side of the tower with a wire-rope sling. The sling failed, causing the pole to fall and bring the tower down with it. Both workers fell to the ground during the collapse.
