Caterpillar Inc. will have to defend itself from a former long-time employee’s age discrimination claim after a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that the lawsuit’s fate should be left to a jury.

Brian Murphy was able to show sufficient evidence that a reasonable jury could find his 2018 retirement from Caterpillar was a constructive discharge based on his age, Judge David F.
