Cassidy Slams EEOC For Abortion Add in Pregnancy Law Rules (1)

The main Senate Republican backer of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act is taking issue with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s inclusion of abortion in its new proposed regulations for enforcement of the law.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), the lead Republican co-sponsor of the PWFA, criticized the EEOC in a Tuesday statement for categorizing abortion as a “related medical condition” covered by the new pregnancy law in its proposal.

The agency’s proposed regulations set to publish in the Federal Register Aug. 11 include “having or choosing not to have an abortion” within the definition of “pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions” ...
