An International Longshoremen’s Association local in southeast Florida unlawfully retaliated against a member after he filed grievances against the union’s board members. The NLRB upheld the finding of the administrative law judge that the union had fined and suspended the member from hiring hall referrals allegedly for violating one of the hiring hall’s rules regarding verbal assault. The ALJ found that the evidence showed that the member had not verbally assaulted the union officials and that it was likely he was retaliated against, in violation of the NLRA, for criticizing, and filing internal grievances against, the officers.
