The National Labor Relations Board ruled that GE Appliances violated the National Labor Relations Act by unilaterally giving some bargaining unit employees, and not others, a raise without first negotiating with their union. The board agreed with the union’s argument that GE Appliances purposefully excluded the most senior workers from wage increases to weaken the union, because those workers were more likely to be dues-paying members.
