A federal district court in New York granted 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East’s amended petition to confirm an arbitration award issued pursuant to collective bargaining agreements and Section 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act, in which the arbitrator determined that a group of home care agencies had committed wage and hour laws violations with respect to over 100,000 of their current and former union member employees, and ordered the agencies to create and contribute to a compensation fund of approximately $30 million for eligible claimants.
