A federal district court in Pennsylvania granted summary judgment to Bryn Mawr Trust Company on a fired bank employee’s whistleblower retaliation claims alleging BMT violated the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Consumer Financial Protection Act. The employee asserted that her complaints to a bank manager about the sales pressure on BMT employees and her complaint to the Department of Labor constituted protected activity. The court concluded that the employee couldn’t demonstrate she engaged in protected activity or that her alleged complaint of SOX and CFPA violations was a factor in BMT’s decision to fire her.
