An Illinois appellate court affirmed the decision of the Human Resources Board of the City of Chicago to uphold the discharge of an aviation security sergeant who appealed the board’s ruling, finding that the sergeant’s neglect of duties during one shift and disobedience of direct orders from superiors on a subsequent shift demonstrated substantial shortcomings rendering his continued employment detrimental to the City of Chicago Department of Aviation, and rejecting the sergeant’s arguments that the board’s findings were contrary to the evidence and that there was no cause for his discharge.
