The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit vacated in part a Maryland federal district court’s grant of summary judgment to EOTech on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Age Discrimination in Employment Act claims brought by an age-protected former employee, holding that private parties cannot prospectively shorten by contract the statutory time periods for filing federal discrimination claims because doing so would disrupt the carefully integrated and uniform remedial schemes Congress enacted.
