An Illinois federal court denied Sweet Honey Tea, Inc.’s motion to dismiss the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and state law sexual harassment claims of a female cashier alleging a man, who worked there for food and money, made unwanted sexual advances towards her and the owner didn’t investigate or remediate, ruling the man’s actions were severe and pervasive enough for a hostile work environment claim, and the company may be liable even though he wasn’t an employee or independent contractor.
