An Alabama federal district court denied Bass Underwriters, Inc.'s motion for summary judgment on claims of sex/pregnancy discrimination, retaliation, and failure to accommodate lactation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act brought by a female commercial insurance underwriter terminated two weeks after returning from maternity leave and one week after disclosing her breastfeeding needs, finding the underwriter presented a convincing mosaic of circumstantial evidence including suspicious timing, inconsistent explanations for termination, and evidence that the employer’s stated reasons for termination (poor performance and relocation) were pretextual.
