A Louisiana federal district court granted summary judgment to Phillips 66 on the claims of a refinery operator that he was passed over for promotions, and later demoted, due to his race and in retaliation for filing an EEOC complaint, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ruling that there was no causal connection between the protected activity and the adverse actions, he was less qualified than those who were promoted, and there was no discriminatory animus behind the demotion.
