A Florida federal district court granted summary judgment to J.W. Cheatham LLC on the claims of a Black construction worker that he was discriminatorily discharged due to his race in violation of 42 U.S.C. § 1981, ruling that the construction worker lacked sufficient evidence of racial discrimination on the job, or that the discharge was pretext for racial discrimination as opposed to the proffered reason of being an instigator to a serious altercation with a supervisor.
