A Florida federal court granted summary judgment to a sheriff who terminated a Black corrections officer after placing him on probation for prior disciplinary issues and a miscount at the jail—dismissing all of the officer’s claims of race discrimination, disability discrimination, retaliation and Family and Medical Leave Act interference, where the officer didn’t show that similarly situated White comparators were treated better, and there was no evidence of FMLA interference or retaliation.
