An Alabama federal district court granted summary judgment to Saugahatchee Country Club on a race discrimination claim under 42 U.S.C. § 1981 brought by a Black pro se plaintiff who worked as a banquet server and alleged she was terminated because of her race, finding that although she created a genuine dispute regarding the Country Club’s stated reason for termination (job abandonment), she failed to identify a suitable comparator or to present sufficient evidence to permit a reasonable jury to infer that race discrimination motivated her termination.
